It’s just another day

9:30am.   Coffee #1 is being sipped slowly. We’ve taken the dog out twice but she’s too distracted sniffing and staring at things to get down to business and pee so she’s back in her pen in the kitchen. I’ll take her out again in a few minutes. Later this afternoon we’re meeting with a financial planner to roll my two 403B funds and my big lump sum from TRS into a single IRA that’s a conservative safe investment. We had been going to pay the house and car off and then combine them but we’d be hit too hard from taxes in a couple ways so we’re just going to roll and bundle for now. Better safe than sorry.

I’ve been feeling a bit negative about our community lately. So many noses nitpicky dried up old farts. So many flipping rules. You have to fill out an application and get permission to do just about anything. Since March most all our amenities have been shut down but we’re still all paying our HOA fees. They’ve opened a very few indoor pool slots ( that are mostly always filled up immediately) and arranged for a few food trucks to come ( we pay for that out of pocket though) so what the hell? I’ve been thinking lately about selling this house when Mike retires and moving to Lake Thunderbird in Putnam. Closer to my family. Cheaper. Cheaper property taxes & HOA fees. I’m a country girl redneck at heart.

Today is Bitzis 6 month birthday!

I just read an email from ancestry.com. Their DNA analysis has improved and is more sensitive now.
I’m 57% English
I’m 32% Scottish
I’m 8% Norwegian
3% German

Wow Scottish!

Soggy Bottom Boys

9:40M.  I’ve been on the phone trying to use my leftover flex spending account money on a bill. I should have had the brains to pay it before my insurance terminated with the school district. Now I have to fight to get it. I called HR but of course got a voicemail. I hate this bullshit!

I took Bitzi outside this morning and the ground is SO wet and soggy and squishy. It must have rained all night.

I have to go get my drivers license renewed AND take a vision test so I’m nervous about that. I’m positive my left eye won’t pass but you only need ONE to pass. On a good day my right eye might pass. Once I do that successfully I’ll have a big feeling of relief.

I’m going to try on all my clothes and clean out my closets and drawers, bring out my fall& winter stuff, put away summer stuff, clean up my bathroom and take stuff to Goodwill.

I split and repotted my new cacti yesterday.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

2:42pm. I’ve taken Bitzi Lu on two big walks today in this overcast wet gloom. I went through all my drawers and the big master closet and put my spring summer stuff away and brought out the fall winter stuff and organized the monster closet. I took 2 trash bags of clothes to Goodwill earlier but now have two more bags of old bedding stuff that also needs to go. In our two bedroom house without a basement I need to keep up on things and continually purge and reorganize things. I’m sweating a cold pasty sweat from all that work and stepping up and down off the step stool and reaching and carrying.

Breathe deep the gathering gloom

8:40am I’ve been up about an hour. I slept like a slab of cement all night. When I woke up Mike was already up and had taken out the trash and recycling, cleaned up the kitchen,  taken Bitzi outside, fed and watered her and made my coffee. How sweet of him. I made pancakes for us For breakfast. He’s in the shower now getting ready to start work. Most mornings I get up, have my coffee and read his paper The Daily Herald Daily Herald and share a bunch of stories on social media. I try to share sports stories because that’s Mikes department he’s the head of. I try to promote his company in these trying times.

I canceled my indoor pool slot again today. It’s too damned chilly. We sign up online for one of five daily time slots. There are only ten people allowed at a time. We have to come in wearing our suits and leave wearing our wet suits. We’re not allowed to use the locker rooms. We have to scan our Sun City residents card to be allowed into the lodge then walk a long way down the corridor to the pool / fitness area and then wait to be called up to the desk one at a time and get our forehead temperature scanned, then scan our member card again, then we have to leave our shoes on a tray and enter the pool area. There are no chairs in there to use at all nor are we allowed to use the house pool noodles or foam dumbbells. When we’re done we just towel off and leave. Now that it’s chilly out this is a bigger hassle.

I’m going to run over to Aldi for a few things and then repot my crazy alien- looking weird overgrown cacti that Sallie gave me Saturday.

Last night for dinner we had the pork roast from the crockpot, mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, corn and dinner rolls. I thought the roast was fine but not great. It was a pre-seasoned roast when I bought it. I usually steer clear of those.

Gloomy day

10:00am

It seems there is always some drama going on. My adult sons fight between themselves like dogs and they both work running the family farms in south Fulton county. They both also drink too much. I’m sure I only know the tip of the iceberg but there seems to always be some bullshit going on. Just like their father-constant drama, much of it brought on by their own actions. I try to accept the things I cannot change but it’s hard and my heart aches over it a lot of the time. No matter how old they are they’ll always be my babies.

I have to go to the central office of my old school district in Elgin and get fingerprinted, fill out paperwork & get my badge in case I want to sub. Want to have options.

1:25 back home. The fingerprints took forever. Now they have to run a criminal background check. I’m having to be processed through like a complete stranger new employee. Then I’ll have to go through an orientation session..... very unsure but it did feel good to be back at central office & HR today.

2:23 We’ve been trying to thin out stuff in the garage this past week. We had a couple big plastic tubs of pictures and photo albums we hadn’t dealt with since we moved so I’ve been going through them, saving the good pictures in ziplock bags, throwing away the old albums, giving a lot of picture frames to Goodwill. I put the ziplock bags of good pictures in a drawer in the bedroom. I’ll go through and sort them later and give a bunch to the kids. There were some old school pictures of me when I was little with my long braids and light blue eyes.

I canceled my indoor pool appointment today. Just not feeling like it.

I have a BBQ seasoned boneless pork loin in the crockpot and I added some Open Pit to it. I’m going to throw an onion in too. Smells good.

3:27. I’ve taken Bitzi on two pretty long walks today. I’m wearing long pants, a sweater and a head wrap scarf because it’s so damp and chilly. I haven’t worn long pants since March 13!

9:20pm
Just had my dark chocolate Klondike bar. Tingly and happy now.

I’m trying to figure out how to work this Amazon Affiliate business in a way that I can easily manage.  Discount birdbath!  I hope I’m doing...
