Cold toes

It’s early morning. I’ve been awake for a while. My toes are chilly. I’ll go put some socks on in a few minutes. I just had my coffee and the dog is curled up on my lap sleeping. I hear the clothes dryer whirring in the laundry room. I had to turn on the load of whites again from last night as they were still damp. Tomorrow at this time we’ll be up and waiting for the limo to take us to O’Hare to fly to Seattle to get on the cruise ship Monday to go to Alaska. I’m excited but a little nervous. We’ve both been sick with colds and are both having knee pain issues. I’m planning to have a splendid time with no problems.

Today we have to take care of last minute odds and ends things and drop Bitzi off at the kennel this afternoon. She will be there for eight days. They love her there and she likes going and running with all the little dogs in the play yard.

The forecast is rain all week but I’m still hoping to see wildlife and perhaps the northern lights if we’re really lucky.

Thursday I drove down to Peoria and picked up my handicapped sister Vicki. It was her 75th birthday Wednesday. We had lunch, went shopping then drove over to Canton to see our other sister Sallie who had quadruple bypass surgery three weeks ago and is recovering. I was pleased to see that she’s doing better and was up and around a bit. She’s still very weak and has to take things slowly and carefully but she’s on the mend. Her husband Pete is on dialysis and scheduled to have a kidney transplant soon. Their world has been extremely stressful. We are all getting older and life is changing. You never are guaranteed another day. Count your blessings while you can.
